Fashion generates
250,000 tonnes of waste in France each year, 2 billion worldwide.
Aware of the climate emergency, it is unthinkable not to give new value to all our waste, whether it comes from the fashion industry or elsewhere.
Producing a new material every time we create a new garment is not a viable model. We have rethought it.
Our standard: making massive use of recycled materials
Fashion's number one problem: materials emit too much CO2. Organic materials draw on the Earth's resources (water, energy) and synthetic materials pollute it (combustion, emissions).
80% of FAGUO pieces are made from recycled materials to reduce this impact. They emit 40% to 99% less CO2 than virgin materials. At FAGUO, they still account for 68% of our overall CO2 emissions. This figure is much higher for brands that don't use them.
Nothing is wasted, everything is transformed.

"Pre-Consumer"
On the assembly line for pieces, there are often offcuts of raw materials: unusable edges between leather panels, the sides of rubber soles... It is unthinkable to waste this material, so we systematically reuse it. These offcuts are shredded and then reprocessed to be reintegrated into FAGUO pieces.

"Post-Consumer"
When a garment has been worn to an advanced state of wear, it should be placed in a recycling collection point such as those available in FAGUO stores. These pieces are shredded and become new textile fibres to make tomorrow's clothing. All everyday waste must also be recycled and reused.

FAGUO stores (excluding affiliates) and offices supplied by ENERCOOP: energy sourced from wind, hydro and solar power.
Product transport
Air transport banned. Minimising road transport. Using ships to emit as little CO2 as possible.

In addition to being 100% recycled and recyclable, we are working to reduce their print surface area and limit the ink used.

Processing all waste: 4 sorting bins, Solution Recyclage handles certain types of waste, and a compost system has been set up.

Shops and offices are equipped with Oopla water regulators to save 50% less water every day.
Inbox clean-up
Annual awareness campaign on digital carbon emissions: 31 million emails deleted in 2020, equivalent to 31 tonnes of CO2eq avoided — the equivalent of 11 return flights between Paris and New York.
Electronic signature
Limiting document printing saves 220 kg of CO2eq per year. The equivalent of a 1,000 km journey by petrol car.

All shops are sources of CO2. Conceived by studio FAIRLY, FAGUO is revolutionising the retail world by creating the 1st architectural concept that drastically reduces its CO2 emissions:

Algae-based paint
Walls and ceilings are painted using natural elements: the pigments used come directly from what the ocean washes up — algae.
100% recycled terrazzo
The terrazzo on the FAGUO tables and till is 100% recycled, made from upcycled plastic waste. Recycled plastic emits nearly 40% less CO2 than virgin plastic.
Flower petal wallpaper
In the fitting room, we selected a wallpaper blending flower petals and hay fixed on a linen non-woven backing, which uses very little water in its production.
100% recyclable TIPTOE legs
The TIPTOE legs of our in-store and office tables are all made from 100% recyclable and infinitely reusable steel, as they are removable.
100% recycled wall displays
Some wall displays were made from cotton offcuts from the Franco-Belgian industry. We recycled, compacted and reused them to reduce our carbon footprint. For trainers, 100% of the wall display is made from recycled cardboard.
Designed to be recycled
Armchair (sourced second-hand on Selency), mirror (100% recycled glass), stools (recycled steel), fitting room curtains (100% recycled cotton), straps (100% recycled cotton), tiles (22% recycled)...
Stabilised & recycled green ceiling
Bringing the forest into the store, yes. But not at the expense of the climate. Our green ceiling is made from stabilised flowers and 100% recycled floral creations that upcycle plastic waste.
FSC-certified & sourced wood
The tabletops are made from FSC-certified solid oak sourced by French experts Bio Création Bois. The furniture is made from poplar, also FSC-certified. Wood continues to store the sequestered CO2 throughout its life, even once transformed into furniture.
Shops no longer play the same role as before. They have a duty to establish new standards of consumption. Much more than a point of sale, FAGUO stores offer services to care for your clothes and the planet: a repair workshop, a second-hand corner, and a recycling collection point.
