Carbon Footprint®: understanding our impact on the climate
Each Carbon Footprint Assessment® represents a multitude of opportunities: better understand our CO2 emissions, see the results of actions implemented in previous years, and reopen a new three-year work cycle without compromise between our artistic direction and our mission.
Understanding the impact of a FAGUO piece
A pioneer since 2009, FAGUO is the first French brand to carry out a projected Carbon Footprint Assessment® directly from a Business Plan. Awareness is there. The tone is set: the first pair of FAGUO shoes must emit less CO2 than initially planned.
Since day one, FAGUO has implemented a continuous improvement approach to reduce its CO2 emissions. We actively help offset our CO2 emissions through forest planting.
These Carbon Footprint Assessments® were carried out in 2010, 2015 and 2020. The next one will be carried out in 2023.
As we will never live naked again...
We will not stop getting dressed, and every new garment created emits CO2. FAGUO is becoming an alternative solution by offering a wardrobe that emits ever less CO2.
The Carbon Footprint Assessment® takes on its full importance by measuring FAGUO’s carbon performance. Carried out by the GoodPlanet Foundation, it takes into account all FAGUO’s direct and indirect emissions (Scopes 1 to 3).
Measuring all our CO2 emissions creates a complete benchmark and enables the necessary actions to be put in place to limit them.
With every Carbon Footprint Assessment®, a reduction in CO2
Conducting a Carbon Footprint Assessment® proves that FAGUO emits less and less CO2. All our actions are positive. FAGUO is growing sustainably.
Per average item
- 18% CO2e per average FAGUO item over 5 years.
Per employee
- 33% CO2e per employee, or 22 fewer tonnes per employee in 5 years.
Per €m of revenue
- 17% CO2 eq per million euros of revenue over 5 years.
Carbon labelling on all FAGUO products
As a mission-led company and member of the B Corps™ community, we are committed to raising awareness among our generation of the impact of the products it consumes.
FAGUO is the first brand to make the carbon footprint of its pieces available directly on their label, via a QR code to scan and on faguo.fr
In addition to a commitment to absolute transparency, revealing the carbon impact of 100% of FAGUO pieces helps us raise our customers’ awareness of the impact of their consumption, encouraging them to consume less but better.

68% - Raw materials
The highest-emitting variable is CO2. That is why 80% of FAGUO pieces are made from recycled materials
11% purchase of goods & services
They allow us to work every day. Despite our drastic choices to reduce our CO2 emissions, they accounted for 280 tonnes of CO2eq in 2020: warehouse, website, telecoms, external services…
10% customer use and travel for FAGUO
Going to a shop, caring for a FAGUO piece… our customers emit CO2 by wearing FAGUO and were responsible for 260 tonnes of CO2eq in 2020. We support them in reducing this figure.
9% team life
Buildings, equipment, employee catering, wastewater, consumables and waste generated, commuting… account for 9% of FAGUO's CO2 emissions.
2% product transport
Freight from the manufacturing workshop to the warehouse: 45 t CO2eq. Outbound freight from the warehouse to stores or our customers: 10 t CO2eq. Sea freight preferred to emit less CO2. Road transport minimised. Air freight banned.
Life Cycle Assessment: towards CO2 excellence
The path we have taken leads us towards a simple principle: creating, in every clothing category, pieces that emit the least CO2.
This principle also means finding the best balance between the CO2 emissions linked to making a piece and its durability.
To this end, we carry out more in-depth studies on the FAGUO pieces our customers prefer, called Life Cycle Assessments (LCA). LCAs make it possible to precisely trace a product’s impact from the beginning to the end of its life and according to its lifespan (number of washes, number of times worn, etc.) across a wide range of indicators: climate change, resource depletion, water eutrophication...
