Fashion generates
250,000 tonnes of waste in France each year, 2 billion worldwide.
Aware of the climate emergency, it is unthinkable not to recover all our waste, whether it comes from the fashion industry or elsewhere.
Producing a new material every time we create a new garment is not a viable model. We have rethought it.
The standard we set ourselves: making extensive use of recycled materials
Fashion's number one problem: materials emit too much CO2. Organic materials draw on the Earth's resources (water, energy), while synthetic materials pollute it (combustion, emissions).
80% of FAGUO items are made from recycled materials to reduce this impact. They emit 40% to 99% less CO2 than new materials. At FAGUO, they still account for 68% of our total CO2 emissions. This is far more significant for brands that do not use them.
Nothing is thrown away, everything is transformed.

FAGUO recycles
"Pre-consumer"
On the production line, there are often offcuts of raw materials: unusable edges between leather panels, rubber sole edges... Wasting this material is not an option, so we systematically reuse it. These offcuts are shredded, then reprocessed to be incorporated into FAGUO pieces.

"Post-consumer"
When a garment has been worn to an advanced state of wear, it should be taken to a recycling collection point such as those available in FAGUO stores. These pieces are shredded and become new textile fibres for tomorrow's clothing. All everyday waste should also be recycled and reused.

FAGUO shops (excluding affiliates) and offices supplied by ENERCOOP: energy from wind, hydro and solar power.
Product transport
Air transport banned. Minimise road transport. Use ships to emit as little CO2 as possible.

In addition to being 100% recycled and recyclable, we are working to reduce their print area and limit the ink used.

Process all waste: 4 sorting bins, Solution Recyclagehandles certain waste, and a composting system has been set up.

Stores and offices are equipped with Oopla water regulators to save 50% less water every day.
Cleaning up email inboxes
Annual digital carbon emissions awareness campaign: 31 million emails deleted in 2020, avoiding 31 tonnes of CO2eq, equivalent to 11 return flights between Paris and New York.
Electronic signature
Limiting document printing saves 220 kg of CO2eq per year. The equivalent of a 1,000 km journey in a petrol car.

Our new shops emit 29% less CO2 than the previous ones.
All stores are sources of CO2. Designed by the FAIRLY studio, FAGUO is revolutionising the retail world by creating the first architectural concept that drastically reduces its CO2 emissions:
- 40% of materials used in the store are recycled
- 60% are bio-based
- 75% of store elements are recyclable
From 2021, the setting of all new FAGUO stores is being reinvented on foundations never achieved before.

Algae-based paint
The wall and ceiling are painted using natural elements: the pigments come directly from what the ocean washes ashore, algae.
100% recycled terrazzo
The terrazzo used for FAGUO tables and checkout counters is 100% recycled, made from recovered plastic waste. Recycled plastic emits nearly 40% less CO2 than virgin plastic.
Wallpaper made from flower petals
In the fitting rooms, we selected wallpaper combining flower petals and hay fixed to a linen non-woven backing, which uses very little water in its production.
100% recyclable TIPTOE legs
The TIPTOE legs of our tables in stores and at the office are all made of 100% recyclable steel and can be reused indefinitely because they are removable.
100% recycled murals
Some wall displays were made from cotton offcuts from the Franco-Belgian industry. We recycled, compressed and reused them to reduce our carbon impact. For sneakers, 100% of the display is made from recycled cardboard.
Designed to be recycled
Armchair (sourced second-hand on Selency), mirror (100% recycled glass), stools (recycled steel), fitting room curtains (100% recycled cotton), straps (100% recycled cotton), tiles (22% recycled)...
Stabilised & recycled plant ceiling
Bringing the forest into the store, yes. But not at the expense of the climate. Our plant ceiling is made from preserved flowers and 100% recycled floral creations that repurpose plastic waste.
FSC-certified & sourced wood
The trays are made from solid FSC-certified oak, sourced by French experts Bio Création Bois. The furniture is made from FSC-certified poplar too. Wood continues to store sequestered CO2 throughout its life, even when transformed into furniture.
Shops no longer have the same role as they once did. They have a duty to set new consumption standards. More than just a point of sale, FAGUO shops offer services to care for clothes and the planet: a repair workshop, a second-hand corner and a recycling station.
